Chatwing AI is a browser extension that helps users generate, translate, and improve replies in web conversations.
What data the extension processes
Chatwing AI may process the following information only when the user actively uses the extension on a page, for example by selecting text, opening the Chatwing panel, clicking the Chatwing button, or running a Chatwing command:
- Selected text on the current web page
- Visible page context needed to understand the conversation
- Detected conversation history from the current page after user activation
- Text typed by the user into Chatwing AI
- Contact-specific prompts and memory saved by the user
- Extension settings, selected provider, selected model, and preferences
- User-provided API keys for supported AI providers
- License key, device ID, and Telegram subscription status needed to verify access
How the data is used
The data is used only to provide Chatwing AI features: generate suggested replies, translate selected text, improve text, remember user preferences, verify license access, and connect to the AI provider selected by the user.
AI providers
Chatwing AI supports user-selected AI providers such as OpenRouter, Venice AI, Ollama, and LM Studio. When a cloud provider is selected, selected text, prompt, and relevant conversation context are sent to that provider. When a local provider is selected, requests are sent to the local server running on the user's own computer.
API keys
API keys entered into Chatwing AI are stored locally in Chrome storage. They are not stored on Chatwing servers and are not sold or shared for advertising.
License and Telegram connection
Chatwing AI may contact the Chatwing license server to verify a license key, device ID, or Telegram subscription status. The license server is used only for access control and subscription verification.
Data sharing
Chatwing AI does not sell user data. Data is shared only when necessary to provide the extension's single purpose: with the AI provider selected by the user, with the Chatwing license server for access verification, or when required by law or needed to protect against abuse or security threats.
Local storage
Chatwing AI stores settings, prompts, provider configuration, license state, and optional contact memory locally in Chrome storage. Users can remove this data by uninstalling the extension or clearing extension storage.
Chatwing AI does not collect page conversation context just because a page is open. Conversation context processing starts only after the user activates Chatwing AI on that page.
Limited use statement
Chatwing AI uses user data only to provide and improve its single purpose: helping users draft, translate, and improve replies in web conversations. The use of information complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
